Server migration completed

February 26, 2017 in Server news

Server migration is now officially done!

Both the website and TeamSpeak server moved to a new and faster host!

The new server is hosted in a place with >9000% more cables to improve throughput.
Everyone knows: more cables = more speed :)

New IP and DDOS

February 1, 2015 in Server news

Because we don’t use a lot of space, I’ve decided to move the server to a smaller drive, which costs less.
By doing that, the IP’s have changed as well.

Our provider also attempted to fix DDOS attacks on their networks:

maintenance

Apparently they didn’t expect any downtime, which did happen for some 10 minutes at least.
Hopefully the packet loss and high ping issues should be resolved now however.

Server maintenance

November 27, 2013 in Server news, Site news

Today I received a message from our hosting provider:

During the night of Monday December the 2nd through Tuesday December
the 3rd we will replace the RAID controller of one of the storage nodes on
the Aurora Compute platform between 00:00 and 02:00. During this maintenance
window your instance will be paused for 15 to 30 minutes (the state of your
machine will be maintained).

This will happen because of a hardware defect in one of the storage servers.
During this time teamspeak will probably stop working as well as the website.

24 Hour Charity Live Stream

November 11, 2013 in Uncategorized

Hello All.

I’m not normally a big fan of charity – I find most charitable organisations use emotional blackmail to squeeze money from those who are vulnerable themselves (e.g. Oxfam representatives knocking on your door at 10am on a weekday – looking to extort pensioners out of their pennies).

However I came across one (US based) charity that I quite like: http://www.ablegamers.com/

They have a simple enough goal – to help those with disability play games (something I think we can all relate to). Frankly if I were unable to play games I’d be  disappointed  – so the goal of bringing games to those who perhaps need them the most seems pretty  worthwhile  to me, even if it’s on the other side of the Ocean.

To that end – I’m organizing a 24 hour live stream to fund raise. The goal is to raise $1,000 – the method will be a communal live-stream the day after boxing day (27th December 2013). Starting 12 midday on the 27th and running for 24 hours – I will be live streaming both BF4 and League of Legends, and invite you all to join me (either by streaming yourselves or taking part in my stream). There will be a live ticker which updates with any donations via PayPal to the charity (all donations go direct to them) – and I will also stream the audio from Teamspeak.

If you want to take part, just let me know, I’d ask that you promote amongst family and friends to encourage donations and if you want help streaming let me know I can assist in setting that up – otherwise just hop on and play over the course of the 24 hours – and any donations are much appreciated.

I will be doing a test-run closer to the time to make sure everything works according to plan – I’ll be using my Twitch TV channel and X-Split to broadcast.

In the meantime – I have a facebook event: Add me – Nathan Bell (London) and I will send an event invite.

https://www.facebook.com/events/568762416510564/?ref=2&ref_dashboard_filter=calendar

We are also up on the calendar on ablegamers website – and there will be some streamers in the U.S. doing an event at the same time so we will arrange some friendly matches over the course of the 24 hours to make things interesting.

I hope you can all get involved.

Regards,

Tree7rog

New server

November 4, 2013 in Server news

Hello guys,

Today I moved the server to a new system. The server is now running in the cloud  :-O

What are the advantages of cloud? Well basically, we have less chance of this website + ts going down. Furthermore, the system is more balanced than before which will result in higher speeds :-D

GGC-Stream Master Servers Offline

July 26, 2012 in Server news

Hello Guys!

At the moment the GGC-Stream master servers are offline, which means we have less protection against cheaters and hackers on our servers.
We must wait till GGC-Stream fixed their technical issues.

Mobile support

April 7, 2012 in Site news

Hello guys,

The is also reachable through your smartphones. If you have the useragent of your mobile browser set to mobile view, the website will automatically adapt to a mobile view.

It’s still possible to change mode with the link on the bottom of the page if you’d like.

So how does it look? Here’s an example:

And the spam wars have been opened!

April 7, 2012 in Site news

As of today the site has a new plugin: CubePoints.

With CubePoints a user can earn points by being active on the site: posting stuff, replying etc.
So let us all hope that nobody will go crazy with his points… stat-pad the points ;)
